  1. Fucks sake we can’t ever be first in anything can we?

  2. There have been multiple studies linking far left voters to mental health issues which could explain the stats here.

  3. Thats only people declared im assuming also. There’s a huge issue with people coming forward with mental health

  4. Might have something to do with the huge generational trauma that happened from the 70s onwards that was never addressed

  5. Or our GP’s are good at handing out anti depressants. Probably because getting therapy is such a nightmare in NI

  6. I wonder what the stats are like for the likes of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.

  7. Just be aware when you’re looking at this- you’ve got a much bigger margin of error for a population of 2 million comparing it to a population of ~40 million. Might not be as bad as it looks.

  8. Bipolar and schizophrenia are very genetic based, so even-ish around the world. https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/bipolar-disorder-prevalence?tab=table

Robert Plomin’s book “Blueprint” is a great read on the minor – and major – mental differences between people, thanks to genetic mutations.

Found it fascinating that if he gets a copy of your genome, he can tell with 95%+ accuracy how many months you will stay in school.

  9. The troubles and large alcohol consumption would do that aye…

  10. I contacted my local GP a few months back. November time and was given anti-depressants. They didn’t agree with me and I went off them. They offered me therapy at the doctors office. Highly recommend reaching out if you are in a bad spot. Been going for a few months now and just chatting has lifted a ton off my chest. Going to start my first EMDR soon (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reporocessing).

Don’t go through the bad times alone. A problem shared is a problem halfed as my fiancé says. Do t beat yourself up. Don’t bottle it up. There’s help out there.

Edit: Male in my 30’s. Been struggling with anxiety and depression since teenage years.
