So according to him we all should turn down a bonus from our bosses just because we left the EU.
I don’t see how that idea helps because if I got one I’d spend it and doesn’t that help the economy.
I don’t know how bankers are expected to turn down bonuses. If they did that then it would mean they would start having to spend their wages.
But what has it to do with us leaving the EU ?.
False equivalence.
Flynn is so very obviously performing for an audience
Aren’t bonuses taxed? Meaning higher taxes from higher bonuses.
But weren’t those taxed?
So we are losing public money because of this false ideology?
All of the responses so far can be summed up with two points –
1. So bankers should turn down bonuses
2. But bonuses are taxed
3. But what’s that to do with Brexit
All of those points are only made in response to this clip by someone who didn’t watch this clip – as they make no sense in relation to what Flynn was getting at.
What I’m saying is it’s obvious brigading.
What’s appalling is that, having a good look around Britain and the world, Westminster parties have concluded that the most pressing issue facing our society is to alleviate the pain of bankers.
Because THAT’S the demographic that needs government to protect its interests.
It’s happening across the board..it’s not a consequence of brexit..
Please show me a list of bankers who refused to collect their bonus
“Westminster parties”? Don’t remember labour voting for it…
As a Banker, I loved the Cap. It gave everyone of us a payrise since our performance related pay was limited lol.
He’s certainly a lot more effective than Yousaf.
This is such a pointless question. The banker bonus cap was brought in to deter excessive risk taking during the 2008 crisis. It is a blunt instrument and the far stronger regulation that has since been brought in means the cap is no longer necessary.
Given that its no longer neccessary, why shouldnt Stephen Flynn get up and ask the same question about footballer’s bonsuses or sponsorship deals being capped? Its equivalent in terms of usefullness, and envy.
For those of you who disagree with my point, when is it supposed to end? Should Premier League bonuses be capped too?
Who’s struggling to feed their families?
Oh yeah, it’s all the people who were struggling before the cost of living went up… Maybe they could work if the ‘anxiety’ or ‘depression’ will let them get out the door 🤣
Sad fact is if you don’t keep the Wealthiest in are society Happy they will spend in another Country
Genuine question:
Why should the government decide (or cap) what, or how, a private company pays its workers?
