Most global automakers, including Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, VW and BMW, are systematically and deceptively under-reporting their real CO2 emissions, according to new research by Carbon Tracker and Nomisma.
These brands’ actual emissions are higher than many G7 countries, and are a more carbon-intensive investment than many oil companies.

I always assumed emissions only get worse over the lifetime of a car as well so even the automakers with accurate emissions testing are still under reporting as far as real-world numbers go.
