  1. What about just turning around and walking away from the idiot spouting nonsense bollocks.

    Does that have a name?

  2. Do you know what’s also a microaggression? Linking an article behind a paywall.

  3. Isn’t eye rolling almost the exact definition of a microaggression? What’s the point being made here?

  4. Microaggression? I must not be rolling hard enough.

  5. Microaggression? I must not be rolling hard enough.

  6. I’m a civil servant and you wouldn’t believe how hostile my office is. We hot desk and god for in anyone who sits in the “wrong” seat.

  7. You have to wonder if the effects of teaching everyone to be hyper-sensitive are going to be positive or negative.

I for one love a workplace where I have to walk on eggshells and scrutinise my every action and word to make sure nobody else might interpret it as offensive, as they’ve been trained to.

Nation of fucking hall monitors, I swear.

  8. There’s nothing incorrect about that, it is a microagression. Whether you should flip your lid over someone ROLLING THEIR EYES is another matter entirely

  9. I’m unsure if this is just a massive scam perpetrated on the stupid, or a sign that we actually deserve to go extinct before we are at risk of inflicting our idiocy upon the wider galaxy. Possibly both.

  10. T H E F L O G G I N G S W I L L C O N T I N U E U N T I L M O R A L E I M P R O V E S .

  11. Wait until they see how high I can raise an eyebrow. I’ve been called out over Zoom for looking sceptical.

  12. I’d like to see the exact quote from that training, as perhaps they just gave that as examples, which is totally legitimate (in the same way that talking about the sexual harassment of women and girls is important and doesn’t imply you can’t sexually harass men). But yes, if they said that white men can’t be discriminated against they should be disciplined for that, that’s factually wrong

  13. Right can someone explain to me why this is news?

Eye rolling can definitely be a micro aggression.

It’s like the most blatantly passive aggresive thing you can do.

  14. and at a later date they will have the 3 sea shells explained and the toilet paper replaced.

i can already see them making moving your eyes from one corner to the other the standard greeting and dwp staff wondering how this could help them cause suicides.

  15. I just thought it was my wife’s natural reaction that’s probably very well deserved after I say something really stupid.

  16. There is a lot of money in promoting the idea that you can nag people into thinking in a way that ticks boxes. However 90 percent of people would of rolled their eyes reading that headline.

No wonder the far right is on rise everywhere.

  17. It could be, however there is still no guarantee that the person was not just rolling their eyes because they were dealing with an idiot generally; not everything is done because the ‘offender is prejudice. I work with people from across the world and one in particular makes me roll my eyes almost every time she asks me something. It has nothing to do with her race or gender, it is just that she asks me questions I would expect from someone in their first week on the job, despite having been with us for eight months now.

  18. At Partridge Productions, it was even a sackable offence.

  19. I’m fairly sure there’s a group of people making this shit up, to see how far they can push their luck, with making people jump through hoops.

    <rolls eyes>

  20. Geee I must have beaten so many people to death at this point then.

  21. You’d have to be an absolute clown to actually use a term like micro aggression. People simply trying to control others using weakness because they lack strength. They should be ignored.

  22. Everything is a microaggression. Hopefully before long the whole “that’s a microaggression” thing will itself become a microaggression and thus eliminate itself from existence.

    Hopefully.

  23. Who’s that a bad thing. Why is everyone such a pussy?

  24. The Times exists to make you vote against your own interests (unless you’re a billionaire?)

This is culture war bait nonsense.

  25. Absolute shocker – being a passive-aggressive twat is professionally unacceptable?! Next they’ll be saying you have to treat other people like actual human beings! Madness…

  26. I would never roll my eyes at someone. What if they didn’t roll them back to me?

  27. I feel like microaggressions are being treated like a macro aggression

  28. That’s not what they were told. They were told it “can be” a microaggression, which it can be if it is done only while speaking to people of colour or women or amother discriminated group

  29. I actually don’t think that council workers should roll their eyes at citizens. I also don’t think they should have hostile working environments internally.

    Apparently that’s an unpopular opinion?

  30. Call it a micro-aggression and the boomers get shook, say you can’t even roll your eyes anymore.

Call it polite manners or professional body language, boomers accuse millennials and Gen Z of starting an eye-rolling epidemic that never would have been allowed in their day.

  31. 99% this isn’t about training people, it’s about being able to say you have trained them. This is done so that, if there is a proper bell*** who behaves like that towards specific individuals, they can’t claim they didn’t know.

  32. Why do people have an issue with this

Micro aggression just means a small thing which is rude or offensive. Rolling your eyes at someone has always been rude and always been inappropriate in a workplace.

  33. “Sorry Jerry but you rolled your eyes when Jane suggested a new brand of instant coffee, say goodbye to your pension you sexist pig”

*Everyone collectively drop kicks Jerry out the first floor window*

  34. It is. If I roll my eyes I actually wish I could punch the moron in front of me but I legally can’t so I roll my eyes instead.

  35. I mean…it is being disrespectful or negative, sure. But people are that sometimes. Microaggression feels like a buzzword.

  36. Why do we have to create this stupid language when we have perfectly suitable words to describe the act.

Eye rolling is RUDE. Impolite. Ill-mannered. It always was.

That doesn’t make it an act of discrimination by default. The odds are, if someone is rolling their eyes at you, it’s probably because you’re a fucking idiot.
