Mother told daughter would ‘get a needle in her arm every day’ until she signed adoption papers

  1. If any secular organisation had done the things that these religious orders did over the course of several decades in Ireland (and elsewhere in the world), they would have been ordered to close down long ago.

It’s high time these secretive, abusive and criminal religious orders were closed down and their assets and bank accounts seized and repossessed. They reigned by terror and showed unbelievable cruelty to those that had nobody to defend them. The hypocrisy is mind-blowing.

It is sickening to think that so many Irish families *willingly* institutionalised their daughters and got rid of their offspring to keep up appearances, with the approval of their so-called spiritual leaders.

If you read about it happening in a primitive tribe, you would condemn it as being barbaric. The veneer of respectability makes it a thousand times worse.

Many of the people that ran these homes must still be alive. Many of the victims of these nuns will have led lives of terrified desperation and grief.

When will there be a proper enquiry and proper accountability for these crimes?

  2. Looks like they learned something from the bible, It’s like the story king Solomon knowing a mother would rather get rid of a child then let harm come to it.

  3. And yet the state will still allow the church to have ultimate ownership of the new National Maternity Hospital.

We haven’t learnt anything from the horrors of our past
