Likes of soc Dems would want to be recruiting their own private security wing ala sinn Fein (solely for self defense)
You can’t count on the gaurds to face down extremism here….hands off is no good,if ya can’t do basic constituency work….you only sort bullies by facing em down
Why would anyone even threaten them , only 6 of them in office…they litterly just exist for sound bites to give the illusion that we have any opposition ….its not as if they show up for work anyway given their track record …only have to show up for 120 days and they cant even do that
Not surprised those anti government nut jobs don’t have enough brain cells between them to tell who’s in government and who’s in opposition
Politicians have been threatened. All these threats can be traced. People should be doing serious time. Why not?
And a certain group of people are happy about it due to her views, yet these are the ones who scream ‘’fReE sPeEcH’’ & say that woman need to be protected more from immigrants.
It says in the article that the decision to close her office was made after a security review last summer. So why is this story being rolled out now? Am I missing something? The story involving the bag of faeces in Gort happened months ago.
Whilst I have some sympathies for the affected politicians, I cant see why they don’t get private security or screen people coming to their clinics, et cetera. In most professions where you are dealing with the public, there is some risk involved.
I am from Galway, I know the reason why deputies Cannon and Rabitte were hassled. All I can say is that they should be very grateful that the faeces was in a bag!
A part of me thinks that similar stories to this will be rolled out in the coming weeks to try and soften up the public to except they hate speech laws and other Draconian legislation.
But who knows.

There needs to be VERY serious legal consequences to making death threats or threatening physical violence any elected rep.
We are not taking this seriously enough. It will wreck our democracy if we don’t.
