  1. This is the future, absolutely no joke. Get ready for it.

  2. Meh, liability insurance is dirt cheap. They could tack it on to the price of your license and nobody would even notice. I pay $28/month for $2 million in coverage, prorated and pooled you could get $300k down to $3-4 a month (less than $50/year) easily.

  3. So only the criminals will have guns, not even the police.

  4. But murdering cops payout damages with our tax dollars. Yeah. Makes perfect sense.

  5. Even if the premium were $50/month I’d make certain people think really hard about whether that firearm is really needed.

  6. in theory, I like this, but seems like it would put a barrier between constitutional rights and people who can’t afford it.

And I will never advocate for only rich people having guns. I do not trust rich people.

  7. We already have mandatory car insurance requirements so I guess why not. Liability insurance is a no brainer for a gun owner who sees any chance of using the firearm for self defense. The dollar amount to defend a deadly force case would put most people into bankruptcy.

  8. Well, won’t this bill just force more people into owning guns illegally? I mean people already own guns illegally. (Gang members, thieves, criminals etc) How is this suppose to combat illegal gun ownership? It just targets people who legally own guns; mostly for self-defense?

  9. This is the type of law that might actually work and get through the political process, not because I think it will be that effective, but because the insurance companies will lobby the fuck for this to be a thing. They can make limitless money from this!

  10. gonna get some bad takes but I love the latteral thinking here, the scotus has made it impossible to do anything reasonable so we have to resort to silly.

  11. Sounds like an infringement. Legal gun owners are not the problem.

  12. Got it, how much personal liability insurance will criminals carrying guns and using them illegally be carrying?

  13. Blatantly unconstitutional and no matter where you stand on guns … Condoning passing an unconstitutional law is like celebrating that someone stole something from you
