This morning at 8:40, after dropping my son off at his elementary school in Hamme-Mille, about 100 tractors came through the tiny street that leads nowhere except this school and a small residential neighborhood. Since the school has a lane-reducer in front of it, traffic was ground to a halt for a good 15 minutes. During the ensuing jam, a tractor fitted with a fake corpse in a suit hanging from a noose was stopped in front of the elementary school.

I get that the point is to annoy everyone in order to increase public pressure on politicians, but I feel that this is a step too far. Their route was deliberately planned, as was evidenced by the cadre of police vehicles that preceded their convoy. You don’t parade violent symbolism in front of 3-year-olds to get people on your side.

I took a [picture](https://imgur.com/T62hirc) through my car window as it was driving by, but it doesn’t do justice to how it looked in real, with the head crooked back and the body swinging around.

I’m really glad my son didn’t see it but I’m so angry for the other kids and their parents.

  1. Soooo having skeletons like that during a parade isn’t ok but having it all over the streets for Halloween is ? It’s probably the exact same skeleton they used last Halloween.

  2. Unfortunately that picture is way too blurry, I recognize a tractor, but no sort of corpse or anything hanging on the tractor.

I would agree with that. But I find it weird that the escorting police would have let that go.

  3. Dont expect civilized behavior from some farmers and don’t expect the state to step in in order to stop their shitty actions.

  4. Are they doing this just to scare people?

I think the message behind is that a lot of farmers commit suicide but I could be wrong

Edit: body in a suit? Yeah I agree that it’s shocking..

  5. Pfffff so what? Dont go to canvaval with your kids they could be shocked for life..

  6. “THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!”. I don’t like the protests but using kids’ innocence is always a weak resource against them.

  7. By all means farmers, keep shocking and hindering law-abiding taxpaying citizens in an election year while you reap subsidies but manage to overproduce, see where it gets you.
