  1. In a rational society anti-vaxxers should be treated the same way as psychics and mediums.

  2. Bit of a non story. She’s a member of government so presumably has the right to organise this, regardless what your personal views are.

Otherwise we might as well give up the idea of democracy entirely if we only want politicians to organise events that are approved by public opinion. Or approved by any official body for any reason. Unless it’s incitement to hatred or violence obviously.

  3. Pretty blatant and outrageous, but what do you expect from such an individual as Keogan?

Her followers and hangers on will lap it up of course – the dumb leading the morons, leading the brain dead.

  4. As bad as the anti-vaccine lads are (and they are terrible) I feel that people have missed the fact she also invited a member of the AFD, a far right German party who are not a million miles away from being fascists. Classy invite.

  5. I see no issue with this. Everyone, even actual fascists and communists have a right to partake in public discussions and be part of the democratic process. The answer to bad ideas is good ideas, not suppression which just pushes the ideas underground and removes society’s ability to moderate their viewpoint through conversation. The political and even worse the journalistic class have become so damn lazy, and just aim to suppress people they don’t like, instead of engaging them in an intelligent debate. Stop giving extremist nutters legit grounds for grievance, give them a public platform and then show their delusional ideas up for what they are.

  6. I find it so concerning when people have different opinions to me

  7. Yeah, freedom and liberty and my body my choice all the way.
But choose not to be vaccinated, and suddenly you’re a selfish lunatic right winger. Lol.

  8. But no concerns are raised from a government who are going to have a “no blame” inquiry into the handling of covid.

  9. We are a democracy. So long as they are there on the will of their constituents then they have every right.

It wouldnt matter if they were Hitler, if they are invited in by the public, they have the right to be there.

  10. How is this unelectable gobshite still have a seat in the Seanad? She should be the poster for abolishing the Seanad.

  11. You respect my opinion but then shower abuse on me?
Not exactly stable, but err, thanks anyway.

  12. This is so beyond anti-vaccination and is being used as a smokescreen by the way she’s invited an AFD member to come.

This is going to be used to advance and legitimise the Identitarian movement within Ireland by way of “caring” about vaccines, an easy wedge issue to hook people in with. The same movement that once had a branch in NI under the name of Generation Identity (the same wider group who had the meeting with AFD recently).
