Those fuckers knew what people voted for and did that shit anyway so fuck them.
They want “a voice” so the mother fuckers think shutting down congress is their voice.
They were out voted because republican policy’s aren’t popular in oregon.
Well now, sometimes actions DO have consequences !
Treating Republicans like the children that they are. Gold star.
>The decision upholds the secretary of state’s decision to disqualify the senators from the ballot under a voter-approved measure aimed at stopping such boycotts. Measure 113, passed by voters in 2022, ***amended the state constitution to bar lawmakers from reelection if they have more than 10 unexcused absences.***
Just a reminder that the job of a politician is not to boycott. It’s to vote. Republican politicians spend way too much time sabotaging and blocking votes.
Nice job Oregon!!!
Thoughts and prayers
Given that this is an Amendment in the Oregon Constitution and only effecting state office holders, it doesn’t appear that this can be appealed up to SCOTUS. Happy with the ruling considering that it was regarding intentionally not doing your job. This isn’t about dissent as they argued, this was about not acting at all. Nothing restricts debate or vote casting, it restricts refusing to participate in government at all.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
Nice!
I bet when they did it they thought no one would enforce the law or that they could talk their way out of it.
Ok, so let’s do this at the Federal level next?
> But more importantly, we are deeply disturbed by the chilling impact this decision will have to crush dissent,” said Knopp,…
They can still dissent. They just cannot hold legislation hostage.
Republicans don’t realize that people are tired of their bullshit. A majority understand now that the problems we have are due to their obstruction and enacting legislation that violates peoples personal rights. A large majority of the country does not want to live in a Christian Autocracy. They don’t seem to understand that. November will be even worse for them nationally. Everyone vote!
I wish every state had this rule. I would even prefer immediate termination. It’s really annoying to see minority parties holding up the system.
Circumventing the legislating process isn’t the same thing as working within the framework and disagreeing with it. Republicans at all levels are utilizing the *weaknesses in the system* as *features*.
If you don’t like a bill and you’re in the minority then you vote no and lose and work to find a legal way to convince your constituents that you’re in the right. That’s what Democrats needed to do after the Dobbs decision. You don’t grind a branch of government to a halt.
Similarly if there is a bipartisan bill that will likely pass that is negotiated in good faith **Mike Johnson** then you bring it up if you’re the speaker. You don’t only bring up bills that are the desire of one private citizen with increasingly obvious mental deterioration.
**Also Mitch McConnell** you don’t hold up Supreme Court nominations that occurs during one presidency even if you don’t like them, let the process take place and if you don’t like them then do it as is designed.
**Also Greg Abbott** if the Supreme Court says you need to listen to federal authority you don’t get to say no I don’t because there’s a manufactured crisis by Republicans who refuse to bring a bipartisan bill up to vote on it and help fix it in the House.
**Also Donald Trump** if you lose an election you don’t get to call up the election commissioner in various states and tell them to find you votes and stage an insurrection to stop the counting process
**Also Tommy Tuberville** you don’t get to hold up military promotions because you don’t like abortion laws.
This is **systemic** and we don’t have a country until Republicans begin to ***play by the rules again.***
As an Oregonian who voted in favor of measure 113, this makes me very happy that my vote actually means something. This is why local elections and ballots are so important
Sucks to suck
If you don’t show up for work, you lose your job. Done and done.
From the article: “We obviously disagree with the Supreme Court’s ruling. But more importantly, we are deeply disturbed by the chilling impact this decision will have to crush dissent,” said Knopp, the chamber’s Republican minority leader.

If this has a chilling impact on Senators walking out on their jobs, GOOD!
YES!! Finally! Justice. What do these jerk offs think would happen to any one of the voters in their districts who just got up and walked off their jobs for weeks without notice or without legitimate vacation time?. . what?. .. they would lose their jobs just like you.
This should be upheld for all congress and senate across the country up to federal levels. You don’t show up to work, your ass gets fired.
Fuck them and their claim that this “chills” dissent. Your job as a legislator is to debate and pass laws. You can’t run to Idaho, claim you skipping work is a legitimate way to protest being in the minority, and then be mad when the voters themselves pass a measure to punish you for doing.
I think this is dumb.
If a legislator doesn’t want to do their job, it is on their constituents to punish them.
And sometimes *not* showing up is a strategic decision to try to serve their constituents, like to prevent a quorum if the opposing majority is blaise with having members travel away from the capital.
I am not sad to see Republicans being slapped with procedural punishments though.
You could say that they walked, so that others could run!
Theyre concerned this will “crush dissent”. Correct me if I’m wrong but dont legislators usually voice dissent by voting against a bill, not churlishly refusing to even show up and allow the wheels of government to turn? It seems that had the state supreme court ruled in their favor it would have the effect of crushing assent, as a majority that cant have its own quorum would be hostage to the minority party and could never pss legislation despite having, you know, won a majority of seats.
these fuckers weren’t working anyway
>“We obviously disagree with the Supreme Court’s ruling. But more importantly, we are deeply disturbed by the chilling impact this decision will have to crush dissent,” said Knopp, the chamber’s Republican minority leader.
No, get your ass to work and discuss the bills in session like you’re supposed to, like you agreed to do when you signed up for the job, like your constituents sent you there to do, not play sick like the lazy pos deplorables you are! Lol gtfo!
Oregon voter here- Fuck yeah
They’re trying to run again for a job they publicly demonstrate they didn’t want to do and are upset that they disqualified themselves from a job they actively didn’t do

Fucked around, found out.
Great news deadbeat politicians can hit the road.
