Anyone else aware of these meetings that have gone on recently? Place is packed out and I know there are other meetings planned around rural Wales. The atmosphere is febrile.

The enough is enough campaign vs the one she tells you not to worry about (Mick Lynch)
A packed meeting that organised by someone that doesn’t even want publicly to have anything to do with what they are saying? Don’t expect anything positive out of this. Like all the anti-20 groups that turned out to run by English Tory Councillors that are actively pushing for 20mph limits where they are.
The level of entitlement that rural communities have is genuinely mind boggling to me.
Decades of insane subsidies for unprofitable farms have meant that a slight reduction in the amount of money they get for failing to do their job competently is interpreted as a disgraceful attack. Being asked to do the bare minimum to actually promote environmental sustainability in exchange for the money they take is a complete disgrace.
Entire communities that have literally nothing other than ‘looking pretty and getting people to spend money there’ objecting to practically every effort to make said industry sustainable by building the actual homes, hotels and wider infrastructure needed to make it work, relying on massive state spending to make it work, only offering pathetic amounts of return on investment, and then bitching when the government tries to make it possible for local government to capture a tiny percentage of the total cost that supporting tourism provides.
And god forbid that we prevent people from driving fast near schools and built up areas. Such a horrible and disgraceful idea.
How about we go a whole year where the rural areas get absolutely none of their subsidies, they only get the same amount per person as is spent in Cardiff, the farms have to sustain themselves, the tourist areas have to fund their own campaigns to get people to come here, and they can then see what the reality of the situation is.
I don’t take people who call our parliament an “assembly” serious enough to think this will have sort of impact.
Crazy how breaking the law makes you a criminal. Never would have thought.
Fortune favours the Brave. You have my support Welsh Farmers 👍👍👍👍
A much as I understand what farmers go through and what they get in return I thought we’d moved on as a society from having secret meetings in large halls with pitchforks and torches at the ready like Guy Fawkes.
There are many things that would be a step closer to the best outcome for these rural communities and the rest of the population. Instead of trying to go breaking and changing laws they need to focus on getting their problems heard in a more friendly and understandable manner.
I think it would be a good start to have whoever is organising this event show themselves instead of hiding their identity in case it goes tits up.
The way to have your voice heard is to vote when elections come. Happy to help.
> 10% of our land is to be planted into trees.
Oh no, the horror!
I just want to make this absolutely insane point for everyone reading and “what our farmers do for us”.
They receive on average (sheep farmers), £16,000 a year in subsidies.
They take up 78.3% of our entire land mass (just grass for sheep and the odd cow).
They then export the vast majority of these animals (so they arent actually feeding us) and we get 1% of our TOTAL calories from them, yet they use up more than four fifths of the entire countries land mass.
And they are also responsible and the lead cause of river pollution and temporary ocean dead zones in Wales.
I’m not even getting started.
Pictures of the packed market please?
I support anyone who stands up and says no to the system that is trying to control us more and more, take more from us in taxes, fuel prices, choose migrants over our own veterans, order us from not singing outside churches when other religions can sing over pa systems calling people to pray, a two tier policing system, I could go on however I will not
The welsh translation is crap
I lived in Pembrokeshire for most of my formative year and year on year they’d vote for a Tory council that consistently fucked them over, voted for Brexit despite the entire thing being paid for by the EC ..
The list goes on and not to put much of a point on it a but a large chunk of them are fucking stupid (and love Farage).
