“Two gunmen took seven hostages at a factory owned by U.S. company Procter & Gamble in northwest Turkey on Thursday, according to media reports, apparently in protest of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
Turkish media published an image of one of the purported suspects inside the factory, a man wearing what appears to be a rudimentary explosives belt and holding a handgun.
The photograph of the suspect shows him with a black-and-white Arabic headscarf covering his face. He is standing next to a graffitied wall showing the Turkish and Palestinian flags with the slogan “The gates will open. Either musalla or death for Gaza.” A musalla is an open prayer area for Muslims, usually used for funeral rites”.
Taking hostages always makes your point come across well and gains you respect …. Not.

“DHA also published a photograph of some of the hostages celebrating a birthday. It reported that the staff had brought a cake into work for one of their colleagues and the hostage-takers allowed them to celebrate.”
This is the weirdest detail of the story.
Article from the Turkish news agency that is quoted in the ABC article with many pictures including the mentioned hostage birthday celebration pictures:

This will certainly end well.
Another benefit of WFH…
You’re no longer “protesting” if you’re taking hostages
Taking hostages is not protest. It’s terrorism.
Gunmen take hostages to protest a war that started partly because of the taking of hostages. Makes sense
Uhhh doesn’t that by definition make them terrorists?
“Protest is supposed to be disruptive”-Absolute fucking idiots in response to this
Jeez, I really want to help them now
Whelp, those hostage takers are dead. Either from Turkish SF or the US. At this point it’s just a matter of how many hostages are hurt or killed before the criminals die.
Is the situation still ongoing?

How will this have any effect on the war in Gaza? Palestine has the stupidest supporters.
According to officials, the hostage situation is over. All hostages are free.

They are eating birthday cake?
That isn’t a protest, they’re just armed terrorists.
Ah yes. Turkish people taking other Turkish people hostage for working at a US company building whose primary product is…*does a quick Google search*…diapers. That’ll sure show those Israelis not to start wars over their people being taken hostage. Check. Mate.
This why you have to work in teams when you take hostages
>Turkish police rescued the group from the factory in Gebza after the suspect reportedly went for a bathroom break.

Taking hostages works really well, just ask Hamas.
🙄
