Taylor Swift is the intergenerational appeal that she has. And you saw that over the summer with parents taking their daughters to the Eras Tour. She’s been a star for 17 years. There are folks that I’m interviewing for my book that have literally grown up with her. She was there for them through all the different turning points in their life. So she can draw younger listeners who are experiencing her music for the first time, listeners who are millennials that see themselves in Taylor Swift, and fans that are my age and older that see an element of nostalgia in Taylor.
Is American politics just a complete joke now? Or has it always been and I’m just now finding out?
I love how MAGA believes the Chiefs rise to near dynasty that began sometime around 2018, which also caused Travis Kelce to be come a household name, and Taylor Swift’s rise to superstardom that began in 2007 is culminating in an attempt to knock down MAGA and the GOP. That conspiracy, which is over a decade in the making, is somehow easier to stomach than the fact that their stance and ideas are WILDLY unpopular. Imagine being so easily conned. Life must be so easy for the Mr. Magoo MAGA types who just don’t see anything but their blind allegiance to the cult.
There’s like 50 million maga people daring to go up against what is arguably over 1 billion Taylor Swift Fans. Gonna be a slaughter for the far right.
I don’t care too much about her music but I do love her work. May she reign for a 100 years! lol
I *wish* we had a UK version; way too many young people disillusioned with voting over here…

This reminds me of when I was in NYC and the massive George Floyd “I Can’t Breathe” protests were moving uptown and the throng of drunk ass preppy boys dressed up as Santas (Santacon) ran into each other near the Flatiron Building. You’ve never seen frat bros sober up so fast. The ones that tried to taunt the crowd were consumed by protesters- the smart ones shut the fuck up and turned around.
Taylor Swift could change the whole trajectory of this election and wouldn’t even have to lift a finger to do it. Just her being her would be enough.

Why is it that those in poor mental health, poor emotional health, and those prone to cognitive errors seem attracted to right-wing political ideologies?
Or asked another way, what is the link, if any, between right-wing politics, conspiratorial thinking, religiosity and mental illness?

One of the best things Taylor could do with her platform is start talking about the Supreme Court, keep them in the spotlight while they tear down the foundational legal structure of our democracy….
