Indeed in times like these is where John McCain is most missed. One of the few politicians who stood by Ukraine and was on the ground in 2013 to give support to the people in Kyiv. You can see a street named after McCain in Kyiv and he was awarded a state award from the previous Ukraine President. He openly stated he was ashamed of his country for not doing more to stand with Ukraine in 2014, could only imagine what he would be saying now
I remember he was called out for being harsh towards Orban in 2014 after he went on the rant in the senate calling Orban a neofascist dictator and thug over Orban trying to block sanctions on Russia.
The Obama administration denounced him and said Hungary was a good friend. Well here we are in 2022, McCain was the first to notice it.
McCain was a Cold War warrior. When it came to Russia he was a bit like Cato the Elder. “Carthago delenda est”.
He was an Establishment guy and was too interventionist. However he was also a man of courage and fundamentally decent. He is one of the few politicians who actually fought for his country and he had a lot of integrity.
He would go on a rant on why the US should bomb Iran.
