Covid: The Army sends 200 personnel to support the NHS in London

  1. It’s a good idea, and hopefully will be utilised in other areas before life restrictions imposed. London is likely at its peak now as well, which is good.

  2. But this is just ‘Normal’ winter pressure or so the Toriies keep telling us.

You don’t think they are lying again do you?

  3. Nothing to see here, right? This is fine.

Whether you think covid is overblown, if you are at the point you are tired of restrictions and just done with the whole thing, I urge to think how this conclusively proves the NHS needs more investment. We cannot go on like this with minimal staffing and capacity. We need investment across the board. We need to start investing in the future by training healthcare workers. That means making it easier to train by not having to go into debt to do so. Bursaries and no tuition fees. Liveable wages so we can stop losing people in these professions.

Pro or antivax, if you truly want no restrictions in place you should be demanding this from the government now.

Evidence suggests that climate change increases the risk of infectious diseases and therefore pandemics. We need to see this investment to prepare for if this ever happens again, because it most likely will. We can’t be ok with seeing billions of pounds of our tax money be spaffed up the wall on contracts for government donors. The health of our people should be an absolute priority.

  4. I think UK government is increasingly only trying to downplay the problem because they know they don’t have to political clout to do much about it. I don’t for a moment think they genuinely believe this is normal.
