If this was any other industry they’d be done for price fixing. Instead they piss in our pocket and tell us it’s raining.
On the other side of the argument is the petrol stations had lost a lot of business in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. They are also in a declining market with sales of electric cars now greater than diesels and a high number of people working from home. Less sales but same overheads are going to lead to higher prices. Not saying I like it but can’t see it dramatically changing, if anything it’ll only get worse .
Is anyone else finding the new E10 petrol to be absolutely shit? We’re paying a few extra pence per litre and only getting 90% of the fucking mileage out of it for the privilege…. Does the ethanol evapourate or something?
Remember a couple year ago(or so, I think)when the fuel price suddenly dropped to like 93p/l again for the first time since the early(ish) 2000s probably? Yea, that was gooooood
Speaking of which, I was shown a photo of myself I’d never seen before, petrol station in the background showing 70p/l hehheh. Wasn’t even *that* long ago
Yeah the petrol round here has come down by a whopping 1p since the panic buying in October. I also seem to be going through a tank of petrol faster since E10 was introduced.
Petrol Companies :”Lol what the fuck you guys gonna do about it, get the bus?”
Hmmm i think theres more to it than that. Maybe prices reflect the cost of the gas/petrol station owners have to pay regardless? Like rent, utilities, repairs, maintenance, etc..? This isn’t really rocket science but basic business….
Fuel duty has been frozen for over a decade. If anything polluters have been undercharged significantly.
And I can’t put E10 in my cars, so I’m having to suck it up and pay premium prices 🙁
Sadly, after the shortage of drivers causing people to go mad and panic buy at extortionate rates, it showed the fuel companies that people are willing to pay this much for fuel.
I can’t get onto the subject of the petrol prices, it fucking infuriates me.
were you live can be such a massive difference to, I filled up when I went to my parents over Christmas at 139.9p/L from a Salisbury’s in the fens, where as the petrol in Birmingham was costing me at least 2-3p more
Fleet Services £1.62 a litre at end of December- Fleeced Services!
Shit-Cunt government introducing this shit fuel.
MPG is so much lower, at least it’s cheaper! Oh, no. Of course it isn’t, cause this country is a **fucking** scam.
Reading the comments here makes me happy I’ve got a Diesel that gets 50mpg and it’s still rising. I’m still getting fucked on fuel costs though. Plus my road tax is £20 a year.
But somehow Diesel is the devil again.
The supermarkets are taking the piss. Petrol has come down by a measly 3p when it should have been 10p more than that. Seems the days of the supermarkets being competitive are over.
