Buildings seen on fire after volcano erupts in south-west Iceland

This morning was that an eruption started very close to grindavik which is very serious the barriers that we have been building even though they are not finished we have seen that they are actually Pro you know providing some protection for the town so the lava has changed its direction

But then around noon we had a new shock when a Fisher opened within the town and there is lava flowing up from that already um several houses have gone under lava so it’s a very serious situation we’re faced with here right now

Buildings were seen on fire in Fagradalsfjall, near Grindavik in south-west Iceland, after a volcano erupted for the second time in less than a month. Two fissures formed near the town of Grindavík on Sunday after an increase in seismic activity that prompted authorities to evacuate the community the day before. A first eruption began at 8am when a crack opened in the ground about 450 metres from the town. Protective barriers of earth and rock pushed lava from the first fissure away from the town. However, a second crack then opened around midday on the edge of town.

The Namibian presidency expresses its deep concern over Germany's rejection of the GENOCIDE charges brought against Israel by South Africa before the Court of Justice, and called on Germany to withdraw its entry as a third party.

The Namibian presidency reminded Germany that it has not apologized to this day for committing the first genocide in the twentieth century between 1904 and 1908 on Namibian territory, in which “tens of thousands of innocent Namibians were killed in brutal conditions.”

  5. The village has been evacuated in time. People are safe. A lot of damages were prevented with the help of science that made it possible to prepare in time since the eruption was predicted. Instead of making this kind of news seem like a crisis it should emphasize what was done correctly to save lives and infrastructure. We need a new type of media.

  6. Oh it must be heartbreaking to see your home burning like that and not be able to do anything to stop it.
