Minister ‘considering’ referring Colston 4 case to Court of Appeal

  1. If the Attorney General referred a case every time the (oh so wise and not thick or shortsighted at all) British Public were “confused” the Supreme Court would have little time for anything else.

  2. Note that this will not affect the decision, they cannot be retried unless further evidence comes up

All this can do is make statements on precedent for future similar cases

  3. Seems pretty sensible to seek clarification for future cases. They obviously don’t want open season on people committing small crimes thinking they’re justified by bigger historical crimes. Imagine justifying drunkenly peeing on someone’s Mitsubishi like *’that’s for the P.O.W slave labour from WW2’*

  4. Hmmm, cleared by a jury, but Tory MPs don’t like it…. This feels like another one of those slippery slopes the Tories are dragging us down to their perfect little fascist state dystopia.
