The title is a bit misleading. There are elections coming up, both for the president and the deputies. The parliament is not going to begin a new session at the beginning of the year. It won’t start until the new deputies are elected.
If there was a need to vote new rules related to the pandemic, an extraordinary session would have to be called in the middle of the campaign. This could become a real shit show. So they voted to extend the period of validity of the current health pass. But it won’t necessarily be active until July, if COVID contaminations are low there won’t be a need for it next year.
