  1. Defamation is such a stupid tort. Unless it’s something highly personal to a private figure, like spreading rumors that a carpenter is incompetent on the job, it should not be actionable. There is no reason you should be able to sue a public figure for disparagement. They have consented to a public image and have access to media to rebut what was said.
