I love nothing more than to see Dems take GqP talking points and make them their own… the hypocrisy that follows is so gratifying (though painful)..
Nixon at least had the good sense to do what he did behind closed doors. Doing it out in the open is absolutely stupid – though it likely won’t matter to the idiots voting for Trump anyway.
(Edit: I’m not talking about the Watergate offenses that later got him in trouble, I’m talking about him pushing to delay the peace talks in Vietnam until after the election when there could have been peace many months and many lives earlier. As bad as Watergate was, nothing will ever be as vile as sacrificing American lives for political gain for me.)

He should turn around and straight up ask the Speaker why he wants chaos at the border during his State of the Union. Just berate the bastard over it on live national television.
Republicans live in a fantasyland where the border was shutdown tight under Donald Trump and only under Biden did it get awful. Conceding to these delusional racists basically concedes all other points about the border that Republicans will claim, like that Trump will be the one to fix it. Using Republican talking points is not a path to victory for a Democrat.
Even though he’s correct on the merits, I think Biden & Dems would be better off raising the salience of other issues.

The border isn’t even insecure, our policy is weak specifically because of Donald Trump protecting a business class of people who hire undocumented immigrants, generally paying well below minimum wage, collecting their taxes for social security they will never see, and making a mockery of the system.
From the razor wire photo op central, go like a few dozens miles in either direction on the border, you can just walk across and no one cares enough to. Immigrants make our country better. This fever pitch from Trumprikins is just about hating brown people. There’s no more depth to their political message.

Brilliant. I really hope this actually influences some swing voters. Conservatives are a lost cause, but 50% of swing voters have functioning prefrontal cortexes.
This could easily backfire if Biden doesn’t absolutely pour it on non-stop. If the campaign is now about who is stricter on immigration there are 100 things Trump and Republicans can point to that Biden can use executive power to do in the absence of a border bill.
Biden can just tell the truth, Trump has to lie. That is weakness in a campaign. Of course, Trump can only lie, but still… lol

Run ads on this now. Use that vault. All we’re hearing about is how the GOP is broke and Donald is spending everything on legal fees. Make them use what they have on counter ads or have public opinion turn on them for it so it’s their anchor going into the election. Dems need to be aggressive and point out the infighting
