Josko Gvardiol: What is he good for? Well actually, quite a lot!

1. It’s kind of like Otamendi – overall he’s quite good but when he messes up it’s glaring

2. It’s genuinely amazing how some, especially City fans are questioning this guy lol?

   We’re witnessing a 21 year old centre-back operate like a FB, attacking the pockets and wide areas, moving like he’s a 5’8 midfielder.

   That’s something I’d expect would be lauded, especially considering it’s his first season, he’s young and especially considering that he’s been VERY important.

   He has made errors(Burnley), but a lot of them have also come down to how quickly City have often been attacking at times, leading too unfortunate turnovers.

   People wonder why Ake doesn’t play left back over Gvardiol, and the hard truth is- Ake just doesn’t have the minerals to do what Gvardiol does.

3. I hadn’t realized he’d come under such scrutiny from City supporters.

   I for one hadn’t expected him to be used almost exclusively as a left back and have been please with his performances for the large majority.

   You can tell there’s a real players there. Active on both sides of the ball.

4. Coming back from a treble, any newcomer can potentially be scrutinized because the standard is very high.

   Me, I can’t tell you if Gvardiol has been good because honestly I don’t know that much about football and his role on the pitch to know if he has been consistent at the things he’s supposed to do.

5. Gvardiol imo, must continue to get better at dribbles and build up he is unstable in those situations, defensively he is good especially as a wide-centerback; I do wonder if high number dribbles is because teams want him to have the ball in this wide areas, like Ake and akanji (especially in UCL final) given so much space to move forward.

   So teams can have more bodies narrow
