Would there not also be massive supply issues with certain produce? Imagine all those people at once all suddenly wanting non-dairy milk.
This’ll never work. My personal pleasure overrides everything.
Plus, what would I use my apex predator canines for.. And cavemen tho! LIONS!
Pffft
When there’s better and cheaper meat alternatives then it will be taken up much more. I can’t eat pasta and salad for every meal
That’s a bad headline (as you’d expect). What it should really say is that:
“NHS could save money if everyone had a better diet”
While I fully support everything that is being done, this is not meat related, you can eat meat and still have a healthy diet. You can still have a very unhealthy vegan diet, especially if you don’t know what ingredients to use to get all of the required nutrients, and not going for vegan frozen pizza.
Even the figure is based on a direct application of one study in Taiwan, which might not be very applicable.
The article even said:
> There have not been any studies comparing the impact of vegan and omnivore diets on the NHS – but it is clearly feeling the crunch of our unhealthy lifestyles.
On a more lighthearted note:
> scientists say that going vegan is key to avoiding a future pandemic
Is that because no one will eat a bat?
“If people were healthier they wouldn’t need medical attention as much”
Cutting out meat has nothing to do with it. Just eat more fruit and veg.
Anecdotally there seems to be a big uptake in veganism and vegism compared to what i remember 5-10+ years ago. There seems to be more options, and alternatives are more prominent in menus and supermarkets. Could be my imagination, but even I’m more aware of how much meat and dairy i consume
Could save some money right now by bringing back closing hours on clubs to 12pm.
Ah yes. The British public who are incredibly well-informed when it comes to healthy eating habits, leaving chicken breasts on the shelves to pick up a much healthier Impossible Burger will help the NHS no end.
I’ve dreaming about “Vegan Zombies” series. The epic saga about farmer family struggling with hordes vegan zombies…
Have they factored in that if people live longer from lower risk of cancers etc by not eating meat, this would cost the NHS more?
