  1. Oh, right. The “stunning” defeat. The defeat for Kuzco, the defeat expected especially to kill Kuzco, Kuzco’s defeat. That defeat? How “stunning”.

  2. Rep. Ken Buck just said on CNN that the vote will be held again tomorrow morning and will at that time pass due to Steve Scalise being back and available to vote.

  3. Republicans collecting Ls like Taylor Swift collects Grammy’s.

  4. Nothing is stunning about Republicans failing. They do it all the time.

  5. Shocker. And in other news, Pelosi is still much better at her job than Republicans are. I mean who brings a vote to the floor without the votes?

  6. Wow the conservatives defeated themselves again. Big surprise… Massively shocked…

    edit: /s

  7. Maybe now they can try something bipartisan like passing funding for Ukraine

  8. Just as well – it would have died miserably in the Senate. But this outcome is much better for optics.

  9. Why’d the 3 R’s vote no? (the 4th was a necessary procedure vote so the person isn’t really a no).

  10. The look on Mike (I❤️Putin) Johnson’s face…..PRICELESS

  11. They never really were interested in impeaching him. They just wanted to score hate points with their simple-minded supporters. They succeeded.

  12. Hehe. They’ll try again. Still wont’t roll in the Senate. Would be easier if they just did their jobs. They make saying “Aye” so hard. Even when the bone is laying there

  13. On the same day that they tried to impeach a secretary for not doing enough to secure the border, they refused to pass legislation to secure the border.

  14. Now replace Speaker Johnson and send aid to Ukraine.

  15. House republicans are so incompetent that they are incompetent at being incompetent.

  16. Im out of the loop, but what made of reason are they trying to impeach him over instead of doing their job?

  17. Oops.

Oh well; I guess House Republicans will actually have to go to work then.

  18. Normally I’m a political nerd, but I’ve stopped paying attention to the Republicans crying wolf on impeachment for anyone and everyone in the Biden administration.

Seriously, let me make sure I understand what’s happened.

This is my ELI5 as I understand it:

The Republicans make a big spectacle of having a vote on the House floor to impeach the Secretary of Homeland Security.

For allegedly failing to protect the southern border.

The Republican-majority House doesn’t have enough votes to impeach him.

The Republican-majority House holds an impeachment vote anyway.

A few Republicans vote NO on impeachment.

The impeachment vote fails in the Republican-majority House.

Thus the Republican-majority House does NOT impeach the Secretary of Homeland Security.

For allegedly failing to protect the southern border.

While the Republicans at the same time are trying to kill a bipartisan bill that would increase protection of the southern border.

    During an election year.

    Do I have this right?

Also, what day next week do the House Republicans oust Mike Johnson?

  19. I call to vote a bill renaming GOP to DNP (Do Nothing Party).
They even fail at the tasks that are supposed to look like they do something.

  20. MTG getting all mad cause the Dems “hid” someone… lmao.

How do you hide a House member? Oh, only if you assume they won’t be there and you purposefully stage a vote when they’re having surgery to better your odds. As if THEY’RE in the wrong, morally.

    Trash.

  21. So they impeach him today and then what? It goes to the senate to fail?
