Four is intriguing and has managed to pull me in. I guess it’s Jodie foster and all that snow, for me.
It’s a fine show on its own and it should have just been a show called Night Country and stopped trying to shoehorn S1 elements into it.
I wonder if he thinks the checks he’s getting for doing nothing is stupid, too.
I wasn’t into the newest episode but other than that. It’s ok so far.
No offense to Nic but if he thought season 2 and 3 were really good then I can’t take his opinion seriously
It’s okay. Last episode was pretty intense, I’m hoping it maintains that and that we’re in the meat of it now.
I will say it doesn’t really have the vibe of TD at all and feels like it’s own thing that’s lazily trying to tie in with S1 for no real reason other than that it’s called “True Detective.”
I think it would have been better served as it’s own mini series or show without the IP piggybacking.
That headline is misleading and terrible. Still, incredibly unprofessional on the part of Nic Pizzolatto considering he is EP on the show. Also, I think S4 so far is way better that S2. At least they nailed the atmosphere.
Season 4 has such an interesting setting, solid cast and the first episode set up a great mystery. Then it’s getting worse and worse in each episode. The potential is there but the execution isn’t.
What? I think it’s awesome
I honestly didn’t expect to see Jodi Foster as a nympho milf police officer; but it’s one more reason why she’s such a versatile and amazing actor.
Scathingly eviscerates? He basically confirms he doesn’t like this season and that he’s not involved in it that’s barely criticism
I find not much happens till the last 10 mins of each episode, and that barely keeps me coming back. Overall this season is pretty disappointing
Pizzolatto wrote the line “Everything is fucking”
He needs to take the bench and stay silent.
It should have been Foster and Hawkes as the leads…Kali Reis is a bore.
The writing is utterly meh…how many more times is Foster’s kid going to storm off? How many more times is Hawkes’ kid going to fight with his angry wife about his work hours? How many more times is Foster going to argue with her boss about jurisdiction?
The whole thing feels like a bad knock off of Fortitude (a much better show with a similar premise).
Its very clearly a show that was pitched as a standalone that HBO decided to throw the true detective tag on.
What I don’t understand is why they didn’t do that with Mare of Eastown. That felt more in line with what true detective is.
Season 4 is better than Season 2, but that’s an incredibly low bar to clear.
I was willing to wait out the first few episodes but it’s been pretty meh overall.
I was watching a random episode of X files last night and no lie more happened in 40 mins of that show than 4 episodes of night country.
Season 1 set the bar way too high and every other season following it is underwhelming, including season 4. Had a hard time getting thru episode 4.
I can’t decide whether I like it or not because it moves so slow. Is it a horror show? With spooky stuff? Is there a bad guy, hiding in the ice healing people? It doesn’t feel like a detective show. It should just have been called Night Country.
I’ve never seen a show have such a cool setting and premise be so BORING. We almost know as much about the main plot now as we did in episode 1. Every character is unlikeable too. What an absolute snooze fest of a show.
Nic Pizzlatto is weak writer who got rid of the people who made the first season successful because he was jealous
I like it. Sue me.
He gets no say after that season 2 debacle
Oh you mean the guy who didn’t come back and lobs shit from the cheap seats?
Similar to season 3, if TD season 1 didn’t exist, this would be considered as a high quality TV programming instead of constant comparisons.

It’s already miles ahead of S2
