Weird that he claims that authoritarian imperialism isn’t cultural for Russia, right after he gives ample evidence for it. It’s as if he’s just denying what “cultural” means, to try to seem inoffensive.
He makes great points, but the dialogue won’t get where it needs to be so long as we prioritize politeness over truth.
edit:
[“Culture is a concept that encompasses the social behavior, institutions, and norms found in human societies, as well as the knowledge, beliefs, arts, laws, customs, capabilities, and habits of the individuals in these groups.”](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture)
Russia has a 400+ year cultural history of dishonesty, aggression, corruption, authoritarianism, and imperialism. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8ZqBLcIvw0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8ZqBLcIvw0)
Ticker doesn’t care about the truth. Nor do his devoted fans. He says what they want to hear as long as the cheque clears from whoever is holding his strings.
Superb 👍

Kotkin is great. Super insightful. Love hearing him speak about history and geopolitics.
I love learning from him on War On The Rocks podcast. No BS, just good quality analysis.
Don’t show this to vatniks they will lose their minds
I just don’t understand – when/why did the far right in America become PRO Russia? That’s a plot twist you’d never expect, like liberals suddenly becoming anti-abortion or something.
I mean, the conservative right in the US led the entire Red Scare, anti Soviet propaganda, anti-communism, “better dead than red” etc. for the better part of the post-WW2 era.
Then once the Soviet Union fell apart, Russia was heading in a better direction until Putin took over and he’s been the dictator for like the last 20 years and since when were American conservatives fond of corrupt Russian ex-kgb commies?
Does anyone know how/why that shift happened? What events led to it, the general back story, etc? I do think it’s related to corruption in America and Trump, but I just can’t make the exact correlation
I don’t see why Tuckers interview is so bad, if it’s all lies we’re expecting from Putin, surely that will only add to the mountain of evidence the west is right in doing what it’s doing. If you want to silence this, maybe your position isn’t as strong as you’d like everyone to believe
Edit: flow and spelling
Tuck ems just got pulled out of putin ass.
Yes but at what point do you consider it a cultural trait when Russia literally never chooses the non imperialist option? Any culture can choose to stop abiding by their cultural tendencies; the reason it’s considered something ingrained in their culture is because they never do.
I hear bull shit every day…I’m not scared to hear what bull shit putin says.
Many people here think preventing putin from spreading his pov is a victory….I mean I’m not sure it’s saved any loves in Ukraine has it?
Maybe we can see his nonsense and half thr world will stop supplying him or trading with him….
