  1. Kevin McCarthy knew how to count to 216, and Johnson doesn’t, is that the problem?

  2. Were they winning under McCarthy? How many times did we come to the brink with government funding?

  3. What did they expect?  McCarthy had been preparing himself to become speaker for years.  Johnson had very little experience in the house, exudes no confidence and is kind of a whack job with all that Moses talk.  What did they expect?

  4. There’s talk of another motion to vacate. Who knows if it will happen but Republicans are, to put it politely, completely fucked

  5. Touch Trump and turn to shit. I wonder why people still fall for this?

  6. Let another round of musical chairs start. Such incompetency will not be rewarded come November.

  7. Trump has destroyed the party of Lincoln. The GQP is wholly and totally incapable of governing. Completely detached from reality. Taken by insane conspiracy theories and fascist undercurrents; the modern Republican Party has boiled down to extremist white Christian nationalism with a flair for terrorism.

  8. Chaos is the name and it’s not a single player, in the GOP game.

  9. Let’s not kid ourselves, McCarthy would have done the same cowardly bullshit.

Is there no Republican leader with the balls to stand up to Trump?

  10. Republican are the mafia party now. They will go after those who voted no from their party and coerce and intimidate them into compliance. Then they will vote again.

It is not chaos. It is organized and criminal.

  11. Now when I am facing an awkward or uncomfortable discussion, I pull a “Mike Johnson”…that’s where I hold my cell phone to my ear, interrupting the situation, and just start talking and walking away fast.

  12. So the dude that said god spoke directly to him wasn’t a good choice to lead a chamber of Congress that’s supposed to have separation of church and state? Who could have ever seen this backfiring? 🙄

  13. Mike Johnson got railroaded so hard his phone sent a notification to his son.

  14. I like that the chaos Trump brought to the presidency has completely infected the GOP.

  15. They have soley used it as a tactic for so long they’re now obstructing themselves.

  16. The speakership is a tough job and no place for a christo-fascist rookie who doesn’t even know how to count votes. That’s the most basic part of the job. Surprised God didn’t warn him he was about to step into an embarrassing debacle.

  17. It’s all part of the plan folks. The freedom caucus rules by subtraction and chaos. They are paid to foul up the government. Their constituents hate government so much that they applaud its sabotage.

  18. It’s almost as if they have no idea what they are doing.

  19. the republicans painted themselves into a corner. They could go back to McCarthy but they’d look weak and dysfunctional. Which they are, but they’d remove all doubt.

That said Johnson was already toxic to independents and dems come Nov. But now he’s going to be seen as a failure to republicans too. This is how you hurt your down ballot turnout

  20. they arent sad he isin’t speaker, they miss him because their majority has shrunken to untenable levels. to the point they *basically* lost the impeachment vote against Mayorkas because 1 guy rushed back from the hospital to vote. against it.

before they got rid of Mccarthy and Santos it was already a shitshow to get anything done, now its practically impossible.

  21. I think the question has to be asked… if they are constantly upset with the level of competence in their leadership, isn’t it maybe possible that they just don’t have competent leadership? OR, that maybe their demands are just completely impossible to achieve in the reality in which we live and they should lower their expectations and work to achieve broader compromise?

I’m aware this is a level of introspection many of the house republican caucus probably are literally incapable of reaching at the moment.

  22. Government led by Republicans doesn’t work. We want smaller Republican participation in government

  23. No one wanted him. They only know how to destroy, not how to build, invest or compromise. They’re all children basically like Dear Leader Trump.

  24. You mean the bible thumping, sex app sharing with his son guy isn’t a serious politician?

  25. There’s no actual buyers remorse. They just want to play pin the failure on the speaker while not even passing their own bills so they can call biden ineffective

  26. Ahh, the article saved the best for last!

“Meanwhile, McCarthy—who is probably currently dancing around his California home to “How You Like Me Now”—is plotting revenge against the Republicans who kicked him out of Congress. His allies are working to recruit primary challengers to those eight turncoats.”

Yes, let’s primary the hateful eight.

  27. Maybe elevating a demented religious zealot into a position of power was a mistake? But how could we know, except for the thousands of bright red flags?

  28. Schadenfreude baby!!!

The night before, Representative Matt Gaetz, who introduced the motion to vacate McCarthy in the first place, also bitterly complained about McCarthy’s absence.

“Wouldn’t it have been nice to still have Kevin McCarthy in the House of Representatives?” Gaetz said on Newsmax. “He would have been a reliable vote for impeachment.
