‘We’ll only count PCR positives for the report, so the pandemic is over!’
The most recent generation of LFTs are pretty bloody good in terms of accuracy, even for Omicron.
If you test positive on LFT then the chance of actually having COVID is so high that for all intents and purposes you *do* have it, so should just act as if you do.
Confirmatory PCR testing should be for those who have bad symptoms but the LFT is consistently negative. Happened to a family friend of mine over Christmas, he had Omicron symptoms and felt like death but had negative LFTs forevermore. He has an underlying health condition and 111 sent him for a PCR… which was also negative. Just a really bad cold and he’s much better now.
One of my friends works in retail, and his boss is having them come in after positive LFTs if they don’t show symptoms. I guess an LFT is good enough for the govt but not for shitty M&S bosses
