I’m planning to move from New York to Berlin this spring and figuring out how to ship around 3-5 suitcases of personal stuff (like clothes, cooking pots, and sheets) plus 2-3 boxes of books. I don’t want to sell everything and buy new things in Berlin because most of my stuff is pretty new – I only recently came back to the country from overseas and stocked up my apartment.

I know I can check in two bags for sure (more fragile items like PS5 and cameras I might even take to carry on), but with United, checking more than 2 bags costs $200 each, and there’s a 23kg limit. Plus, I’ll have to lug them into the taxi and deal with all the hassle. Has anyone tried [mybaggage.com](https://mybaggage.com) or similar baggage shipping websites? I got a quick online quote, and it’s only $125 for a 20kg bag and just $175 for a 30kg bag or box, with delivery in 3-4 days. It sounds super cheap, but are they reliable?

Also, if I list all my items as personal belongings and can prove I’m moving into the country, will customs waive the tax? When I moved from the US to Korea before, it was really easy in terms of taxes – basically, anything you bring into the country within 90 days of moving and mark as personal belongings automatically becomes tax-free.
