  1. Why risk making another flop when you can beat a horse to death

  2. If people keep paying to watch Disney beat a dead horse, then Disney will keep beating that horse.

  3. Don’t look at what people say they want on reddit.

Look at what they pay to see at theaters.

That’s sequels, franchises and established ip. 13 of the top 15 movies last year were established ip. That’s where the audience is spending their money.

Would i love it if it were different? Sure.

  4. How about no more superheroes, sequels, or franchises? How about some good old-fashioned original content…?

  5. I didn’t think it was possible for them to lean more into that stuff then they are already are.

  6. Sounds like they’ve learned exactly the wrong lesson from last year’s box office story. The success of Barbenheimer *at the expense of several big franchise films* should be a clear indication that audiences are looking for fresh material. Instead they’re doubling down…

(The “reduced output” at Marvel is specifically related to the Disney+ shows, rather than theatrical releases.)

  7. Kinda sad how they miss the actual problem of their faliures:

Lack of creativity and good writing

  8. Honestly I’d rather have a sequel than live action, at least. Ugh.
