For Americans, I think the best way to explain how we feel is this:
Being a Canadian today is like being an Austrian in 1933. We can see the insanity that is unfolding and understand it might have a huge impact on us, even while a not insignificant number of our fellow citizens cheer the worst happening.
If the US got a divorce, Canada is afraid it may have to adopt the good US states.
As an American I worry US democracy cannot survive US democracy period. Voters are ticking boxes as an emotional response and then acting like fucking toddlers when they lose. It’s gross and disturbing.
Canadians be right. Yet they will elect PP. as.ir is “just time for change”
I do wonder if New England would secede to join Canada if Trump declared himself dictator for life. I’m sure the Maple Syrup Cartel would welcome Vermont.

It won’t survive. But honestly at this point America’s on a collision course and I don’t think it’s gonna end well. Luckily I have some really good friends in Germany if I need to escape at some point especially since I’m in the rainbow brigade 🏳️🌈
Unfortunately like me, most people my age can’t stand either side and many of them are refusing to vote at all due to the current administration not doing something about many of the issues plaguing this country. This country is not doing well at all and nothings really being done to help make anything better. And the Republican Party is the same only they want everything to go back to the 1950s and that’s all fine and dandy for Christian white men but everyone else is second class. I used to think that was all an extreme view of progressives but spend enough time in a rural area and it quickly becomes clear this is really the case and the sad thing it’s not even really all their fault.
The entire American system is rigged to keep us dumb as rocks and poor as hell. It’s a shame we don’t throw our TVs out the window, phones in the trash and really get out there and do something about this, if we don’t no one will.
