Now that the Brest match is over, we have less than a week till we play Real Sociedad (I’m not too concerned about the Lille game, we’re miles clear at the top of the league), and now we have a good idea about what should be the starting XI based on the recent performances. This squad, in my opinion, would be perfect for humbling those Spaniards at Parc de Prince.

FORWARD: Barcodinho has to start at left wing; his dribbling and chance creation are excellent and go extremely well with WZE’s space finding. Kylian Mbappe, a center forward (no need to explain). Dembouz at the right wing; he and Hakimi make up the team’s most productive creative circuit, and he has one of the highest dribble completion rates on the continent.

MIDFIELD: Fabian Ruiz, Manuel Ugarte, and Warren-Zaire Emery are the candidates I’ve chosen. No other player on the field possesses WZE’s work ethic and dedication to the team. Either Fabian or Asensio would be as effective at advancing the ball and creating attacking progression. In a controversial take, I would suggest starting Ugarte because he has been playing exceptionally well lately and we need his ball interception abilities in a knockout game.

DEFENCE: Donnaruma in front of the net with Danilo and Marquinhos as the center-back duo. Hakimi as usual has to play as right wing back because he has been outstanding this season—even more so than in past years—and Lucas Hernandez playing left back, pretty standard. I hope Nunu Mendes recovers from his injury and starts the second leg. If he does, we might see Barcola perform similar magic on the left flank, as we have seen with Dembele-Hakimi on the right and Lucas being allocated as a Centre back. Our defense is, in my opinion, the weakest point.

This is my perspective, and I’d like to know what adjustments you would recommend. I’ve decided on a 3-1 scoreline. I would also like to know your projected scoreline. Allez Paris

  1. You guys are harsh with Vitinha. He has has shown better things than Urgarte lately.

    However, Uagarte is also capable of monstruous games and be extremely precious when it comes to take the ball from the opponent. But it doesn’t seem to be the current trend with what we’ve seen lately.

  2. Why does enrique play ruiz instead of ugarte? Is Ruiz good or is ugarte out of form? I haven’t watched the matches recently.

  5. Fair lineup. I think I’d go with something similar. Ugarte is definitely gonna be crucial in a CL game, even if he is out of favor right now. We need his ball winning abilities, and CL games will be very intense

  6. Calling him Barcodinho… seems he is doing fine. Happy with him? Would be interested as OL fan.

    To be honest, in last 10ish games I have forgot about him as Nuamah and Fofana are worthy replacements and were ballers in Marseille and Lille games.
