  1. I find it hard to understand how you get a suspended sentence for putting someone in a coma. This just seems so out of touch.

  2. Why does everyone get a suspended sentence?

Whats the point in having laws if the people who break them don’t face any repercussions?

Break into a house and threaten a woman in bed? Sure you’re a good lad on ur way.

100 previous convictions? Sure you only dragged the old lady by her car for 15 feet, suspended sentence.

Nearly killed someone and ran away? Ah Sure it can happen to anyone suspended sentence.

Second time caught with a little weed?
Scum of the earth 6 months inside, 6 months probation with drug testing….pay 500 to the court.

    Irish justice system:

sexual assault? Who cares, bodily harm? Fuck it, being a pedophile? Sure just don’t live near a school. Thieving from shops…sure you’re sound.

    Irish justice system on drugs:

You absolute fuckin scum of the earth, you’re the reason we have so many problems in Ireland. I condem you for the rest of your life! Evil scumbag.

  3. Losing the fight doesn’t mean you were not the perpetrator. The reporting by the journal (not un-typically) fails by omitting any detail of the events leading up to the fight, and the fight itself.

I’m not saying the appeal court ruling was not correct. I’m just saying that the paper entirely failed in providing the information I need to form an proper opinion. Rather this is written to reinforce (a right wing) paper’s view.

  4. A suspended sentence is a criminal conviction just without actually being sent to prison.

These people will suffer the effects of their convictions for the rest of their lives, long after they would have gotten out of any custodial sentence they might have received.

This sub seems to make light of the seriousness of a suspended prison sentence. Any crime commited during the suspended portion will result in it being activated so you have your original on top of whatever new sentence you’re given

It’s not a slap on the wrist in the slightest.

  5. A friend of mines younger brother was killed by a hit and run driver. The guy had already been banned from driving, and was caught trying to bury the car in his back field. Suspended sentence. Welcome to Ireland.

Edit : he wasn’t caught burying the car, he actually did bury the car, and handed himself in after 5 days.

  6. It’s not about JUSTICE stupid, its about FEES

Justice is never the goal of the exercise, its always been about the fees. When you start looking at our legal system from this perspective, suddenly it all makes perfect sense!

All the silly wigs are robes and just a distraction. You are not allowed to question the wigs and you are not allowed to question their judgements.
