Well, IMHO the EU clearly overgrew in some sectors that it shouldn’t (subsidizing companies for example) and stagnated on sectors it should have grown (EU army for example), so it’s completely fair for governments to be sceptical of EU control and wanting more autonomy from it.

Wow. I’m from Moldova and ever since our old “president” got voted out and the government shifted towards a EU-friendly course and away from ruzzia, we started to regularly have farmer protests that are clearly sponsored and rallied by ru agents.
And just as in these EU cases, protestors want some vague stuff like “less restrictions”, “lower taxes” and “more profits”. And just like in these cases, protesting farmers in Moldova are very far from highly educated reasonable people.
So I guess ruzzia as always knows where to strike with propaganda and bribery – uneducated, poor and old people. Works every time…

Bruh, we’ve had protests in Romania as well, started by the Farmers and transporters. It is funny as these fields enjoy many subsidies or facilities, they avoid taxation, until last year salaries in agriculture were tax exempted, while transporters have employment agreements in Romania and they perform international transport and make all sort of tax optimization schemes (driver is paid with minimum wage and the rest of the money up to 2000-3000 euro is paid as daily allowance which is tax excempted) while the rest of the country pay taxes normally. Why tf should we provide even more facilities and exemptions?
Many of the requests cover Ukraine and their export of grains, which are coming to Romania and leave Romania, are not sold, used in Romania. They spread fake news about everything concerning Ukraine.

Farmers in Romania sell their products abroad, and they complain about the situation in Romania while much of their work goes abroad and whatever subsidies are paid don’t lead to a drop in prices. They are part of the problem, not victims.

In general I agree with their protest, after watching Clarkson Farm it is clear that farming is back breaking job, which is okay, but on top the bureaucracy makes it unmanageable. But, the solution is not less Europe, as subsidies and CAP is what keeps them alive. Instead, Europe should prohibit foreign imports with lower yields and standards, while supporting farmers in filling their paperwork. For example, by allowing designated companies and cooperatives to do the paperwork for them, being legally responsible in case of fraud, while incrementing remote sensing in verifying information and detecting fraud.
Oh ffs just leave the EU like Britain did and see what happens to your shitty economy.
