  1. The difference is explained by a stable team on one side that plays with the same players and coach for years and played the easiest UCL group stage this year vs PSG that had a 10 men turnover in the last summer, a new coach and played the toughest group stage.

I mean it’s a transition year for PSG while City is the defending champ’…

  2. Interesting stats, but singling out shots on target doesn’t paint the whole picture. In terms of xG, [PSG ranks 8th out of 50 teams who competed in the UCL this season so far](https://footystats.org/europe/uefa-champions-league/xg). Take the Newcastle return leg for example: PSG had 31 shots (7 on target) but many of the off target shots were still valid goal opportunities (think of Barcola’s chances at the end of the game).

Also, Manchester City’s group was considerably weaker than PSG’s.

The main takeaway, however, is that PSG needs to be more efficient. But the goal opportunities are very much there.

  3. I love comparing RB Leipzig, Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys Berne with BVB, AC Milan and Newcastle.

The definition of “correlation is not causation”
