Hello Redditors.
So I frequently go to ice skating rinks here because we don’t have one back home. And I noticed something, I always see this product. You see, this whipped cream (correct me) is quite big but every time I go ice skating, I always see people bringing this out in their bags when they drink hot beverages like coffee after skating. I thought it was only a thing in Oslo but when I went to Trondheim, I saw a similar scenario. My question is “Is it a norm/cultural thing to bring this when going ice skating?” Because if yes, I’d like to bring one too. 😊

They are likely drinking hot chocolate, adding whipped cream is fairly common.
You can bring whatever you want and put in your cup, we don’t judge, get triggered or feel the need to invoke some kind of personal privilege.
I’ve never seen anyone bring this for a hot beverage outside.
We always like to have a clean shave after an ice skating session.
I wouldn’t say adding whipping cream to hot chocolate is a cultural norm specific to Norway. If anything, the canned stuff is probably imported here from the US
It’s to make the outing to more of an event, you bring a little bit of luxury with you. Maybe instead of going to a cafeteria with your whole family, which can be rather pricey.
Bringing a thermos with hot chocolate is fairly common, adding whipped cream is for special occasions. Promising your kids whipped cream in their hot chocolate after skating can be an easy way to motivate them to go along, if they rather stay inside gaming or something.
It is viewed as a small luxery item people bring with them together with hot chocolate in a Thermos. Especially with kids as a treat.
This is not only done while ice skating, but also on a hike or cross country skiing.
