Temperatures are rising, but soil is getting wetter

  1. Yes, they’re saying that soils are getting wetter, but they’re saying it about water-rich areas of the central and eastern United States, such as Missouri.

As far as mechanisms, they’re saying that precipitation is the driving factor behind soil moisture levels… which is great, but doesn’t help the other observation, that they’re getting less precipitation in [most of the western](https://www.ars.usda.gov/news-events/news/research-news/2021/droughts-longer-rainfall-more-erratic-over-the-last-five-decades-in-most-of-the-west/) United States.

It’s just a repetition of the finding that the hotter it gets, the harsher the climate gets everywhere.
