[Jose Felix Diaz] Real Madrid does not regret not having signed a central defender. After David Alaba’s injury, multiple defenders were offered to the club but Real Madrid rejected all of it as none of them fit the strategy of signing young & elite talent for the future.

  1. Just like I speculated initially, since the COVID, Hazard/Jovic Fiasco, and the era of state clubs.

Real Madrid have established a new recruitment policy in the club under which no player will be bought if they do not check one of these 3 core rules:

    1. Player is straight up generational and THE best upcoming talent of his generation for the position. (Bellingham, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Endrick, Vini, etc).

    2. Player is world class and available for a free transfer. (Rudiger, Alaba)

    3. Player is coming back from loan, ex-academy graduate, cheap buyback. (Fran, Brahim, Joselu)

If a player does not fulfill any one of these 3 core ideologies then Real Madrid will not buy them no matter what.

This is why club is only seeking for these talents for the summer 2025 transfer window, a lot of meticulous planning goes for each transfer and do not expect any surprises. This is Real Madrid, every player they choose to court, joins them so the club simply does not create alternatives, you can’t be one of the best in the world, you have to be THE best talent:

    PLAN A:

    – Mbappe: Fits the (1) AND (2) both rule.
    – Yoro: Fits the (1) rule.
    – Davies: Fits the (1) rule and partially the (2) role considering he is on last year of contract.

    PLAN B:

    – Endrick: Fits the (1) rule.
    – Rafa Marin: Fits the (3) rule.
    – Miguel: Fits the (3) rule.

And this is why Yan Couto is getting side tracked, unless he is available for very very cheap, Madrid will not buy him. Also if Mbappe rejects once more, Madrid will again not buy any striker and start courting Haaland for 2025/2026 with Endrick as back-up.

But what Real Madrid won’t do is buy 2nd best/3rd best/5th best, etc talents and be stuck with them. Its really either their way or the highway.

Only the best of the best in the generation are being allowed at the club and if not, they will go for cheap temporary option and go again for the best in the world in subsequent windows. But the best is only allowed.

  2. Spoiling a Ballon d’or season for a debutant and a UCL tooo

  3. Yeah this will hold well until our team loses the title due to insufficient players in those positions. We’ll see then.

  4. Board’s newfound transfer policy is outstanding, and they deserve all the credit.

Still, I highly doubt the ” **Real Madrid does not regret not having signed a central defender”** part.

In hindsight, I’m sure they would sign / loan temporary CBs .

  5. If by chance we screw up the league title hopes, who are we to blame??

I might be stupid to say this but a Loanie cb would not have harmed us just like kepa.

The injury crisis is sick this season.

  6. Alaba lives injured. Nacho is a good substitute, best case.

  7. Can we stop complaining and trust papa perez? Op has a point. There is a clear strategy being followed and the management learned from their mistakes. We have been consistently reaching ucl semi-finals while rebuilding our squad and even won one and got kb9 a ballon d’or. We are building a squad that could dominate European football for the next decade while rebuilding our stadium without loans. Did I want a backup CB in the winter window? of course. Am I angry it didn’t happen? hell no. BTW we got tchouameninga

  8. That’s even more negligent. It’s just a bunch of bs. Alaba, Rudiger and Joselu don’t fit that description and they’re working out great.

  9. What a dumb excuse. Is he trying to say we couldn’t find a single CB who is better than fucking Carvajal or Tchouameni who could come in on loan? Bruh.

  10. So basically players nowadays if they wanted to have a chance to play for rma they have to be at the end of their contract.

  11. Ain’t no way a club would admit that. Especially Real Madrid.

  12. I respect that they have specific standards and requirements for signing a player, but we’re in a dire, emergency situation that we couldn’t have predicted at the start of the season. All our CBs are practically out, and it’s completely unacceptable to not sign a single one, even on loan like we did with Kepa, in order to have cover in a very needed area. If we lose the title after this, we know whose fault it is.

  13. This seems oversimplified. Joselu isn’t exactly young & elite talent, yet there was a need for a 9 and Madrid got him on loan. No reason why that couldn’t be done with a defender. It’s probably more complicated than that. My bet is that Madrid either wants a specific defender or just is completely sure of the quick recovery of the injured players.

  14. Yeah right, but Joselu fit right in to that description right?
