  1. Hope he takes them to the cleaners. The constant false news they spread will eventually get someone seriously hurt and it came very close to this man

  2. Gript is a grift

A scam a scab on the skin of society

  3. Good.

It’s a lying online rag with a certified failure as editor.

  4. John McGuirk promised to go away if Dublin voted 75% in favour of repealing the 8th amendment.

Dublin kept our part of the deal, why hasn’t he?!

  5. Johnny Arse saw a gap in the right wing market and went for it . He’s a parody. Hope the suer destroys them

  6. Our sources were bad is hardly a legitimate defence for cases like this, right?

  7. “The article did not name the person. After the article was published, a number of people on social media went on to publish what they said was the man’s name.”

How would gript be considered responsible for people making comments on their post?

Is OP legally responsible for any comments here?

It seems like they should be suing the person/people who falsely accused him in the comment section.

  8. – Garda gives false info to Gript.
    – Gript publishes article but doesn’t name suspect.
    – Social media does its thing and fingers wrong suspect.
    – Gript gets sued.

Let’s turn off the lizard brain and apply some critical thinking, even for people we hate.

  9. Wasn’t this guy kicked out of fianna fail and fine gael for essentially getting into scandals? I’m getting this from the phoenix.

For a man who is supposedly to be a ‘smart’ Conservative he does do remarkably stupid things.

  10. Good. May he be successful and bankrupt that cess pool of misinformation and hate.

  11. I know the meme has been done to death, but….fuck around and find out.

  12. >The article did not name the person. After the article was published, a number of people on social media went on to publish what they said was the man’s name.

Not to be a buzzkill….but have he a reasonable prospect of scraping out of this?

  13. I hope he gets taken to the fucking cleaners. The worst kind of pond-scum

  14. I could be wrong, but as far as I am aware Gript didn’t actual name / identify a suspect.
They gave a nationality and wrongly linked the suspect to certain asylum appeals.
So to identify the falsely accused by name  you would needed to have done a bit of research / googling.
So not sure how this case would play out in court.

It’s a bit like the Sunday World linking crimes to people like Mr Big, Mr Flashy etc., it doesn’t implicitly name them but you could probably easily identify them online.

  15. Right to do so. I hope he wins big, as he deserves to be compensated.
