But when you’re in Congress, the only effective way to represent your constituency is to build coalitions. When you take this votes where you’re on an island, it looks good for you but what does Vermont get out of it? Is this going to make the other Dems rush to co-sponsor Bernie’s next legislation?
Yes, politics is a dirty job. I can’t do it. But if we’re all thinking logically, the goal is to get shit done. There’s no profit is being a singular speaker of truth. None. Bernie is a great person but a shit politician. With that many votes for this bill, it was gonna pass easily. And yet Bernie couldn’t get a single person to vote with him.
I don’t agree with a lot of Bernie’s policies, but you have to respect the guy. He has unapologetically stood by his policies for years and always seems to do what he thinks is right.
