  1. What these people don’t understand there’s a fundamental difference between the IRA and Hamas. Well there’s many but this is the key one.

IRA members liked living and ye know, being alive.

Hamas look forward to death and martyrdom. Such ideology will never lend itself to being a partner for peace.

  2. This is a new level of stupidity – appeasement didn’t work with Nazi Germany and it certainly won’t work with Hamas

  3. The IRA had an actual somewhat tangible goal. They wanted a united Ireland. They weren’t calling for the genocide of all British people.

They also showed themselves to be capable of change with their dropping of the socialist part of a united Ireland. Hamas have neither of those things.

  4. Irish redditors: Please stop associating us with terrorists, it is a hurtful stereotype with no basis in reality.

    Irish politicans:

  5. How are we not supposed to laugh at Ireland with opinions like these?

  6. Behave yourself. Hamas must be destroyed at all costs.

There should be no peace until their leader who looks like a rodent has been captured dead or alive.

  7. Is this an opinion of a sizeable amount of Irish citizens?

  8. Wow. Up there with Putin’s recent nonsense. She’s doing a great job at showing everyone how insane she is.

  9. WOW… so why not just drop her off to share some “lovely” evening with Hamas members? I am sure she will be very well loved by them! /s

  10. Deranged.

You can criticize Israel’s war effort.
That does not imply Hamas is not a terrorist organization.

Common sense, we abandoned it somwewhere in the 90s

  11. “Do you think that [Hamas](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/hamas/), although regarded as a terrorist organisation by many people around the world, are going to be eventually a partner for peace, have to be a partner for peace?”

She said: “Yes – I think you only have to look to our own example to know that how important dialogue is, and it is the only way you’re going to ever bring an end to conflict.

That’s the extract. She was asked the question and it was posed to her, she didn’t say it herself. The thing she actually said is far more sane and realistic.

It’s pretty clear nobody here actually read the article and are just getting their anti-Irish circle-jerk out.

  12. People can think what they want of Israel, but Hamas the organisation needs to be annihilated.

  13. The IRA could be reasoned with because they wanted a united Ireland, but had no desire to go beyond that. Hamas wants the complete destruction of the state of Israel.

I really hope Irish people can look at this conflict for what it is instead of projecting their own history onto it

  14. Northern Ireland has a very long and painful history with terrorism. I surprised they are so tolerant of terrorists.

  15. Honestly mental how many people just close their eyes to the simple fact that Hamas is:

    1. Not interested in peace until every Jew is gone

    2. Not interested in what the West thinks

    3. As likely to turn on the West

Maya Angelou was right when she said to believe people when they tell you who they are. But many people seem to not believe it.

  16. I’m actually embarrassed to be Irish with this idiots comment,I don’t stand with Palestine, Gaza or Hamas.

  17. This is where the Palestine and Ireland comparison always caused problems.

I think most people would agree the IRA and Hamas are terrorists but that’s kind of where it ends.

The IRA wanted a United Ireland – it never wanted to destroy Britain altogether and all the people living there. Hamas very much wants to destroy Israel, they have said so multiple times.

The IRA also didn’t go around Britain burning families in their homes, raping women and destroying entire communities – granted, they did kill civillians in their bombings but it was certainly more detached and less personal compared to Hamas, even if still completely fucked up.

The IRA were also not a complete batshit death cult – so of course peace was on the table, they wanted to live! Hamas don’t care about dying, part of their ideology is martyrdom to recieve their goal, so it’s unlikely they will budge or be up for negotiating peace at all.

  18. Insanity to think two scenarios are similar shows igrance to the situation in Israel trying to compare.

  19. This is terrible PR for Ireland, I have no idea why she said thus

  20. Yeah 👍🏻

    Hamas manifest article 7:

https://quranx.com/Hadith/Muslim/USC-MSA/Book-41/Hadith-6985/ Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.

Sure people who believe it’s their holy obligation to kill all jews are a partner for peace.

  21. Leader of the political arm of the IRA sees no problem with negotiating with terrorists. I am shocked, shocked I tells ya

  22. hamas would have her arrested for being political as a woman.
