I’m sorry but this interview is being blown out of proportion the same way the letter of osama bin laden to the USA was on tik tok et al recently. This is exactly what putin wanted and he got it. Just like Osama with his letter. It’s just sad because many people currently cannot differentiate between fact and fiction and are not interested in truth, just convenience.
I’m afraid many Americans will fall for his lies. They are not really bright nation.
There is nothing that could possibly have happened in the year 862 that would justify Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. The statute of limitations has expired. It’s time to let go of old and misremembered grievances and focus on trying not to murder hundreds of thousands of people moving forward.
So it’s as bad (or worse) as could be expected? Thus still best to protect my brain by refraining myself from watching that interview.
Aside from rewriting history, even if there would be a claim to Ukraine you do NOT go on an aggressive war to ‘fix your grievances’. Oh the nerve. Hoping that this will backfire for Pootin.

I disagree that there is no need to invest effort into debunking falsehoods. A person who might be unfamiliar with the discussed topics might listen to someone like Putin and form a factually wrong opinion. On the contrary, it is imperative to provide commentary such as the one in the article. It would be perfect if the commentary went into even more detail.

The BBC article is a bit shit, it doesn’t really go into any details on why Putin is wrong in some of his statements although he’s likely just simplifying things and ignoring things to fit his agenda.
