> A poll released on Feb. 6 by the Russian independent polling organization, The Levada Center, found that 77% of Russians support the full-scale war against Ukraine, with only 16% of respondents saying they were opposed to the war.
>
> The figures have stayed remarkably consistent throughout the war, polling data has shown. A poll released in November 2023 found that 75% of respondents supported the war.
>
> An overwhelming majority (77%) believe Russia will ultimately be victorious in the war, a 6% increase from January 2023.
>
> At the same time, more than 50% of respondents said they favored peace talks, a figure that has declined slightly over recent months.
>
> Around 66% of respondents also believed that “Russia is paying too high of a price for participating in the war,” down from 82% who agreed with the statement in July 2023.
>
> Only 31% of those polled said they bore moral responsibility for civilian deaths and destruction in Ukraine.
As a self-proclaimed Russophobe, I guess I must admit the latter number, 31%, is way better than I would expect from Russians.
Don’t really think russian polls are something you can take seriously
Cause the side that didn’t got killed in the war
And 23% of Russians just fell out of windows.
Yeah, the other 23% are in jail for opposing the war.
On another, COMPLETELY UNRELATED news, 23% of the russian population volunteered to join the armed forces.
You can’t really take russian polls seriously
Polls in Russia? Something like cancer studies by Big Tobacco.
I believe this is a credible number and there simply isn’t a big group of Russians who don’t support the war but won’t say so.
77% do not want to be killed
23% will now be questioned by Putin’s Ministry of Love.
They can think all about that as they go to more funerals. Deluded assholes.
Russians polls are always to be believed.
Putin has an approval rating of 143%.
Or else!
Imagine you are so brainwashed that you are happy for an old man to send 100,000s of young men to die in a meaningless war, a neighbour country that you have already robbed and bullied for centuries.
They have their own Fox News telling them what they already want to hear.
The sad fact is, despite our innate desire to think that the poll couldn’t be accurate, if you look into Russian social media its quite believable.
The Russian people have very little compassion or respect for anyone that isn’t Russian, we can already see in Mariupol Putin’s design for lebensraum.
Ultimately it would appear an extraordinary number of Russians still need to die to bring that number down and Putin (or some other leader) around the table in good faith. The international community needs to come together to expedite that process.

War? I thought it was a special operation?
I guess they should enlist then? Funny how they support a war of aggression but their country relies on conscripts. The surprising thing isn’t that 77% support the war, it’s that 23% of Russians don’t support it
As a russian I can’t say that you can’t know exact percentage of those who don’t support it because it is marginalized and even punished (300$ fine is a considerable sum in a country with 650$ average wage). But those who support it can take as much space as they need (tv, media, internet) and it might be supported by authorities. Polls don’t work well in Russia.
Russian polls are notoriously trustworthy and highly accurate due to perfect polling standards and zero government involvement!
Poll by Putin
My father always says here in Spain everyone approved Franco’s dictatorship until he died. Then everyone was anti Franco and had been since forever
And 60 percent of Americans supported the Iraq War.
Did in 1941-1945 years Germans could support or not support something really important?
Not rally, they almost for a decade were objects of censorship, propaganda, heavy indoctrination.
The same and with Russians, but not with “decade”, but “centuries.”
To support something, people need:
1. Objective information.
2. Social traditions for personal and social analysis of such information (including via social ladders/competition).
3. Possibility for personal/social analysis. Personal/social freedoms.
“Russians”, except for a few anomalous decades, never had anything of this, only hyper-centralized Moscow bureaucracy and its decree/orders.
Predominantly related to: Use of Russians for natural resources extraction. Exchange of resources on western luxury and military-related technologies. Military use of occupied populations to get more occupied populations.
Poll Question: “Do You Support the ‘War’ in Ukraine?” Choose one of the following answers:
1. Yes
2. My last will and testament has been written and filed with the appropriate authorities.
It’s amazing that it’s not even higher considering the news lockdown in that country.
Those are the dumb Russians. The smart ones leave Russia. So now you have a country full of dumb people.
I left 5 years ago and my parents and many relatives are still there. In my estimation it is a bit overkill but I still believe the majority supports all this. My parents, for example. It is impossible to talk to them about politics and have a different opinion. They aren’t just brainwashed, they aggressive protectors of the propaganda.
Fun fact – we are good with my parents despite claiming me as a traitor because I live in the US. They believe in many silly stories about the US. For example they think gasoline price here is much higher. I have shown gas station pictures and receipts many times. They still prefer to believe in propaganda but not to their own son… This is how badly thing are there.
And sad story about my parents – they refuse to visit us “because we hate Biden”. We gave a birth here and they didn’t see their grandchild until we met in a “friendly” country (it was the United Arab Emirates).
They are obsessed, they don’t appeal to facts. They just believe and you can’t affect on their believe somehow. Remember, there are 140 million people. I don’t know how it will end up eventually but I am a pessimist about this.
Let’s not forget Russians haven’t completely felt war, aside from a few drones hitting Moscow there’s no reason to fear and propaganda is doing its job
Sometimes, I fantasize that Iron Man is invented, and the first thing he does is bust into Putins bedroom and unalives that PoS
Also, 77% of Russians don’t want to fall out of a hotel window.
the Russian population’s opinion should not matter. conservation of a separate sovereign nation’s territorial borders should matter.
The other 23% will get deployed to Ukraine

30% of Russians don’t support war. That’s quite a lot.
