Ik heb mijn digitale tv opgezegd de dag dat Telenet aankondigde dat ze dit gingen doen. Als ik al betaal voor een dienst moet je me niet nog eens reclame aansmeren er boven op.
When this was announced it was said to only be technically possible on the latest generation digibox (I guess that is the small box that records in the cloud). We still have the previous model (3 years old) and currently it does not apply to us.
Since I also have the system where I can watch TV with a card (the telenet card thingy) my TV can decode the signal from Telenet and my TV can record on its own. So needles to say how I will do my recording at some point in the future…

On top of that, how fucking expensive is telenet? I mean I enjoy there service quality but if I had a possibility to go to proximus, I would’leave them in a heartbeat. Even then, internet is Belgium is waaaaay too expensive.

Telenet is echt verschrikkelijk. Indertijd hebben ze ons gelapt van ons een digicorder te verkopen die zij 2 jaar later lieten stoppen met werken, om ons te verplichten een nieuwe te kopen.
Wij hebben inderdaad een nieuwe gekocht, bij Proximus. Fuck Telenet.

Extra vraagje: is er iemand anders die ook “match of the day” opneemt en helft van de tijd ervaart dat de opnames op BBC 1(HD) niet te bekijken zijn wegens de technische tekortkomingen van de digi-corder rommel? Pak het om die reden altijd dubbel op met niet HD versie..
Neem nu bvb de masked singer. Het enige dat mij en de meeste mensen daaraan boeit zijn de optredens en de reveal, deze staan dan ook netjes op hun official youtube kanaal, praktisch op hetzelfde moment van de uitzending al, zonder al het andere gezever ertussen. En reclame op youtube is nu niet echt moeilijk te omzeilen op welk platform dan ook.
Die tv kanalen staan allemaal al met beide voetjes in het graf, maar graven zelf nog elk jaar wat dieper en dieper.
Goh, die digicorder hebben we binnen het jaar dat we samen gingen wonen teruggestuurd en voor een goedkoper abo gekozen.
Wij kijken thuis Netflix, Disney+, YouTube (al ben ik deze laatste ondertussen ook al kotsbeu met die advertenties),.. via een chromecast. Ik vermoed dat dit de toekomst wordt

Tegenwoordig heeft bijna elke zender een eigen app en is een digicorder niet meer nodig. Ik betaal nu €60 (+ €5 netflix) per maand en kijk op mijn smartTV de progamma’s die ik wil zien via de apps waar je ook live kan kijken.
– Veel goedkoper
– Veel kortere reclames (30 sec)
Mijn smartTV heb ik door de goedkopere formule op 2 jaar tijd al volledig teruggewonnen in €’s.
As far as I know this is only the case when you watch a show that is not recorded, i.e. “terugkijk tv”. When you record something you can still skip the commercials.
I’m happy that I ditched telenet completey for 6m now. Already stopped my digibox for 2Y and haven’t looked back, some complaining from the wife but she is fine now with Netflix and TV apps. My switch to edpnet was the last move and I’m happy I did it. Good speed and no download limit for a decent price and if you call them they pick up the phone…
Edpnet + streaming here. 34 euros a month for true unlimited internet. No worries for me.
Also, fuck Telenet.

Oude computer en met een hdmi connecteren naar je tv. Doe ik al jaren.
Imagine paying for something and STILL getting ads. This is not a mindset that works for modern audiences and it’s hilarious to see that Telenet and the likes don’t see this, or simply refuse to see it.
My theory about this is that telenet has accepted its decay and is on full exit strategy. People who quit their subscription right now would eventually quit in about 1-3 years and switch to netflix etc. But most people above 40 or so dont like change. So those people rather suck up the ads and watch regular shit content tv. Telenet got about 30-40 years of guaranteed customers i think.
If i was Telenet and was in for the money i’d do exactly the same
