Finland seem to be the only country in the world actively reducing their homelessness, they’re doing it at a lower cost to society too…

Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need

Pretty much the only argument against this appears to be “I’d prefer to pay more taxes so others don’t get something for free when I didn’t”. I admit the sense of injustice is strong when someone could get something that is a struggle for others, but it is (when looked at dispassionately) the cheapest, and only, solution that has been shown to work.

Instead we’re wasting resources and police time chasing down a begging ban that hasn’t been effective anywhere it’s been implemented. We really should concentrate on evidence based policy rather than leading with emotions which only lead to a divide in society anywhere.

  1. There is nothing a government cannot handle. Intent is the missing word.

  2. Two questions:

What do you do with those who prefer to remain unemployed because they dont want to work?

What do you do with those who are comfortably housed in France and come to Luxembourg to “beg” for money as a way of work?

    Sorry, one more:

Is Lux government responsible for housing for non Lux citizens?

  3. Luxembourg doesn’t have a similar problem. Shelters are already available. The main problem is drug trafficking. On the begging population, remove organized beggars, and addicts by fighting trafficking, and the problem becomes residual
