  1. jokes aside, respect on the name of Khaled al-Asaad, Archaeologist* and the main director of the palmyra site, beheaded and hung when he wouldnt comply to give information.

the cultural destruction of these sites is tragedy.

  2. Same reason why we hold on to all that stuff we “found” down south in the 1600’s, for safe keeping…

  3. Palmyra isn’t a roman city, it’s existence is attested from the 18th century before Christ

It’s not Roman, though it was hellenized during it’s history

  4. This really makes me trigger a lot…

imagine surviving millennia, see empires rise and fall… and then destroyed by some brainwashed religious zealots….not even a single ounce of respect for peoples who came before them…

  5. This is why those backwards, small minded zealots can’t be trusted with these things. I’m sorry Greece, but they’re safer with us.

  6. Barbarians being barbarians, nothing’s new here.

  7. I didn’t realise you worked for the British museum, Pierre?

  8. True, especially for the Middle East.

But we could give Greece back their shit.

  9. Yeah weirdly in a lot of muslim countries there is no trace of non muslim history there.

In Afghanistan they destroyed lots of buddha statues

  10. This is the number one thing that is why I will never make me respect Islam: the anti-humanity. I can’t stand it.

Then in second and third place you have the misogyny and the regressive thinking.

    Then the aggression and hatred…

    And the list goes on…

  11. Fuck religion man, letting these spineless men seize power and control braindead people into living like it’s 500 BC
