Agribusiness is a *business* and only operates for a profit. If every farmer were to be abducted by aliens tonight, capitalists would move in by 6am tomorrow and nothing would have changed.
Farmers get free subsidy money, tax breaks on their $70,000 Monster-Truck “work”, vehicles (we’ve all seen them at the Mall), pollute our rivers, drain aquifers for thirsty plants that should be grown elsewhere, treat livestock and wildlife like shit, and still manage to vote against their own self-interests.
