The current provisional president is László Kövér. According to the law the next president has to elected within 30 days. Btw. the president has no real power here, just a paper signing machine.
The accession of Sweden into NATO will therefore be delayed a couple of days or weeks.
She did not act on her own. The President has no real power, nothing changes. Orbán has quieted the unrest with the announced changed of the Constitution and with the resignal of Novák, and will continue to enjoy the support of half of the voters.

So, she resigned over it being revealed that she pardoned a man who was an accomplice in a child abuse case (he tried to cover for his boss, a pedophile abusing children at an orphanage, by forcing at least one child to say nothing actually happened), and who is said to be very well-connected to Orbán’s circles.
Her speech, clearly cobbled together in the last minute, was absolutely priceless. Key points:
1. She claimed to have pardoned the person thinking he didn’t abuse any children. Girl… like… what do you think *why* was he in prison, and why did they turn to you for a pardon, instead of appealing the judge’s decision? Like… come on…
2. She kept repeating the word “sovereignity” which just happens to be Orbán’s buzzword for his EP elections campaign. It made zero sense for her, her situation, the case, anything, to use this word, but she brought it up again and again, I guess because they wanted her to be useful even in her last moments as a president, hammering Orbán’s message.
3. The way she started thanking her husband, her children, and her message to all women, was like she was accepting an Oscar. 😀
I mean, sure, it was all basically bullshit and lies, but come on. 😀
Too bad she was just one of Orbán’s puppets with none of the “sovereignity” she kept talking about. She’ll be replaced with another puppet, and the head vampire will stay in the middle of his spider’s net…
