1. Over reliance on Russia for energy and China for manufacturing. Both of them are de populating and collapsing.
2. Fewer Skilled Labor in Germany. The skilled are all retiring now. Germans aren’t having babies anymore.
3. Energy cost is driving manufacturing out.
Germany should (have) invest(ed) in nuclear (many years ago) to get some cheap energy to run their industry. Instead their decision was (led by rat Scröder etc.) to suck putler’s fart-gas and burn it, and they tried to drag the whole fucking Europe with them, still just a couple of years ago.
The best they can do now is to announce starting of 10-20 nuclear plants. Lesser than that won’t be enough.
Bla bla. One year Germany is an unbeatable super-economy doing everything right (overblown), couple years later it’s in unstoppable terminal decline (overblown).
All these articles based on overextended trend lines are crap.
Who will beat them to become an Industrial Superpower?
Germany will always remain an Industrial superpower, their products always stand the test of time.
Another episode of “European countries heading for disaster”, American sensationalistic media have been saying this for 60 years by now and they never get tired or check if it’s really happened.
Don’t worry Germany.
Bloomberg is such a rag.
It is great, think about restoration of ecologyc clinate and carbon neutrality!
1. Loss of cheap Russian gas to fuel its industries. Also the loss of gas knee capped the chemical industry that needs the gas as raw material. The gas is now shipped from USA at a higher cost. Also Biden’s recent rule to ban LNG exports will have repercussions in the future.
2. China is no longer a consumer of German industrial goods but is now a competitor in making advanced machinery. Not to mention the electric vehicles made in China directly hits the German car industry. German inability to pivot their car industry to electric will have long term consequences. EV’s level the playing field so there will be lot more competitors for making cars in the future. The niche ness Germany enjoyed in making ICE cars will become obsolete.
3. Aging population strains the public budget. Not many young people in the workforce. Importing foreign labor to augment the labor force will have political implications. Rising far right and Neo Nazi parties will cause adverse effect on investments in the country. No body wants to be associated with Nazis and won’t touch Germany with a 10 foot pole.
4. Inflation and high interest rates.
Guess what restores industrial production. 😈
The german government refuses to address the systematic failures of the retirement system for decades now. Almost 25% of the federal budget is spent to avoid the collapse of pension insurance. We basically need a crash and reset to get out of that death spirale.
Man I swear I’ve been reading this for years now. Why do I have the feeling that they are just needy of clicks?
One German city (Hamburg) is most likely going to manufacture more commercial airlines in the coming 15 years than the entire US and China combined.
Granted that is because short-haul passenger aircrafts like the B737 Max and A320neo make up most of the modern airline industry but Boeing shat its pants with the B737 Max.
2 things I dont like about germany:
1. They seriously suck when it comes to digitalisation and general quality of IT products. Sure, generalization, but hey, we are here to generalize, right?
2. Even though they are not competitive in IT, they still have the ubermensch attitude when talking with easter europeans who are, defacto, a lot more advanced in IT.
For “old” factories yes it can be argued as it. But man come on now Northvolt and Powerco are building massive battery gigafactories at the same time in Germany. Tesla is considering an investment to double its production capacity. It would be quite hard to say Germany would not be anymore a industrial powerhouse, it is a (un)wishful thinking.
Clearly the answer here is to impose more sanctions on everyone
I don’t know about that, Germans throughout history have proven that they can recover from pretty bad situations I think that they’ll be fine
This is way overblown, but Germany needs to invest in R&D and innovation more. German businesses can manufacture everything, but i cannot name a cutting edge product, that they have innovated in the last 10 years.
Media outlets need eyes on their content, hence overblown stories to attract viewers. That’s the simple business model. Germany is a solid country with a lot of things going the right way. Is it always sunshine? No, just like any other country. Is it the end of Germany? Definitely not.
Of course it is!
Software will be the king for a long time!
And other digital services, like streaming services!
OMG guys TOTAL GERMAN ECONOMIC COLLAPSE IN TWO MORE WEEKS!!!!!!!
Intel coming to Magdeburg, Tesla is at Brandenburg and Apple is coming to Munich so i dont think Germany is coming to an End.
Bloomberg is such a shitty clickbaity source…
Just waiting for Germany’s days as a sovereign state to come to an end now
of course it’s a bloomberg article lmao
Nonsense. Siemens, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Jungheinrich, Bosch, heck the list is endless. I’d buy German before any other.
Germany increases its prices for energy by shutting down the remaining nuclear power plants. Energy intensive companies will leave Germany which is fine by the government because they can relocate to countries where renewable energies are cheaper. The missing jobs and tax money will be replaced by increased debts and taxes (Carbon tax, tax on meat etc.) until german engineers invent a green industrial technology that germany can export to other countries and become once again the export power house. Thats the german plan in a nutshell.
As a German: big players in Germany are f***ed up with our gov to follow super stupid ideology in regards to energy safety(price) and to not invest enough at all into Energy infrastructure. Energy intensive industry is screwed, we are in a recession, low income households are more f** than ever, the consumer demand is drowning, pretty much half the population is upset with our state of the state. I don’t have faith at all.
