I am from Serbia,I was in greece on a mountain Pelion near Volos,i was on a vacation with my family and we went on a beach called Fakistra(very beautiful but tough road to get to it,would recommend),we were going back from the beach when we saw a trail going downhill but other direction and a sign which stated “stone school”(dont know greek its a translation),we followed the road and it was very steep but we managed to go to a cliffside cave which was used by monks to study and also a little church with a small doorframe.Me and my dad went inside and tried and took video of it but thats not the important part. There was a little wooden pole on which there were braclets.A lot of bracelets.I dont know if it was a good thing but we took 4 of them for each member of our family and exited it my mom brother and my dad all got the normal black bracelets with a little colored ball/s,but i got one with this cross/metal thing covered all in rust(it was dark inside and we couldnt pick so we just took some and left),i took it home and got a big chunk of rust from it and put it on my hand, and from then i didnt take it off.Can you tell me what this cross is and what does it mean.

I think it is a “prayer bead”. It essentially helps if you pray, with the right syllables and such?
Don’t you have these in Serbia?
It is a prayer rope. Monks used it to count prayers and people wear them today.

Komboskini, a prayer rope/bracelet. Wear it in good health friend.
Mostly hair. But also a komposkini as others mentioned.
